MOEDA CAVES

The Moeda Caves are a group of caves located in São Mamede, Batalha, Portugal.As Grutas da Moeda são grutas calcárias localizadas em São Mamede, freguesia de São Mamede, concelho de Batalha, distrito de Leiria, em Portugal. Travelers can visit an area of about 350m long and 45m deep.

The caves were first discovered in 1971 by hunters. Later the cave became a tourist attraction and geologists were hired to maintain the natural features of the cave, including the mountain landscape above ground.
